Circuit Overload

Having the circuit overload is a very common problem. Some people don’t understand that you can’t just keep plugging in electric devices into the same power plug. Depending on the appliance, each plug is rated to have one appliance. So the answer is to have power boards, which is fine if the appliances aren’t too power hungry. But if you keep plugging in more and more, then eventually it becomes too much and triggers the circuit breaker. The simple solution is to either not have as many appliances plugged in, plug them into different sockets or call us and we can install more power points for you.

Sparking Power Points

If you notice that there is a sparking sound coming from your power outlets then this is a problem. Sometimes the plug will even keep feeding power even though it is switched off. This requires an electrician to replace the power point. You might not be able to hear the sparking but sometimes you can smell it, a burning smell. You should unplug all devices that are connected to a faulty power plug. You should also contact us immediately and we can come to your aid fast.

Electrical Surges

When there is a power surge, that means too much electricity was put into the system in one go. This can have a major effect, especially on appliances that are plugged in. Usually what will happen is a circuit breaker will be triggered and turn the power off to stop the inflow of electricity. This can be caused by a few things, fallen nearby power lines, house wiring that is faulty or even lightning. If the problem can’t be solved by turning the safety switches back on, then get in contact with us right away.

Flickering Lights

Obviously, flickering lights is because there is a loose connection somewhere. Usually the light bulb is not properly plugged into the light fixture. Turn the light off and allow the light bulb to cool down before touching it. Then try to tighten the bulb a bit better and see if the flickering goes away. If there is still a flicker going on, there is another problem that needs attention from an electrician. Give us a call and we will sort it out.
If you have a problem with your electricity and there is a fault that needs to be fixed, get in touch and we will send an electrician in Bendigo to you.
